What kind of options are there?
At BTA you enjoy an opportunity to insure solar panel systems, which are permanently fixed to the roofs of buildings, and to the ground. You can buy solar panel insurance together with BTA Property insurance, and as an individual product.
When will the losses be covered?
Damage caused by storms
Blown off solar panels, damage caused by falling trees or tree branches and trunks.
Hail or snow
Damage caused by hail or the weight of snow cover resulting from heavy snowfall.
Wilful misconduct
Deliberately damaged or stolen solar panels.
Fire or explosion
Damage caused resulting from a fire, an explosion, or a direct lightning strike.
Unforeseen occasions
Damage, which occurred when a child was playing ball or crushed aggregate scratched the surface of the panels.
Additional options - electronic risks
We also offer electronic risks insurance. This being the case, solar panels are insured against damage, which might be caused by the following: 1) power outage caused by an accident or a previously unannounced power loss; 2) overvoltage, overload or short circuit; 3) secondary lightning effect and the resulting electromagnetic and electrical phenomena.
Installing solar panels on the roof of the house
Safety
Make sure that no objects around the panels can fall onto them causing damage or cover panels reducing efficiency thereof. Prior to installation of solar panels, please, verify if all the system components are not damaged, interconnectable, and properly certified.
Technical condition
Prior to installation of solar panels on the roof of your house, you should verify its technical condition (roofing and structure) and its opportunity to withstand wind load, panel systems, as well as weight of snow cover expected in winter.
Fastenings
Upon selection of the type of fastenings and their layout, one should consider the possible wind load – upon increase of the solar panel angle, surface area or the distance from the roof, wind load will increase as well.
Installation of solar panels on the ground
Environment
Upon selection of a place, where to install solar panel systems, make sure that third parties or animals are unable to access the panels, because they might cause damage. Pay attention to the environment, so that nothing falls onto the panels or covers them.
Technical condition
Make sure that all the components of the solar panel systems are not damaged, they have appropriate certificates and are interconnectable according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Fastenings
Upon selection of the type of solar panel system fastenings and foundations, bear in mind the possible wind load that they might be subjected to. Depending on the circumstances, the structure of fastenings might require deep concrete foundations.
