BTA offers its clients remote medical consultations
To facilitate communication between patients and doctors, the BTA Baltic Insurance Company AAS (hereinafter — BTA) has created a unique product eMed that is incorporated in the BTA Health insurance application. It provides an opportunity to apply for and receive a remote doctor’s consultation via video or phone call where the doctor can assess the patient’s condition and prescribe treatment. In the first 28 days, more than 150 remote visits were held and patients have rated almost all of them with the highest mark.
The new eMed offers clients to receive several important medical services available at the family doctor. Those include consultation with the doctor, provision of prescriptions, referrals to examinations, as well as opening and closing medical certificate.
The first patients of the eMed service mostly complained about symptoms of cold: cough, runny nose and sore throat. Doctors helped these patients by providing the most appropriate medicines. Back pain is another common reason of complaints; one patient was referred to in-depth examination due to possible broken rib.
“Healthcare system is currently overloaded with treating patients with COVID-19 and it is difficult to receive help in cases of exacerbation of other acute and chronic diseases. It is complicated to get to the doctor now and you have to wait for your scheduled visit longer than before, therefore, BTA has implemented a completely innovative solution in Latvia — application eMed — that provides the clients with Health insurance policy an easy and quick doctor’s consultation and recommendations to solve health issues. In BTA mobile application, you have to describe your symptoms and indicate the preferred time of your online visit. A consultation with the available specialists is scheduled automatically and you receive a link to your online room. The doctor assesses your symptoms and decides what is required to understand the patient’s health issues and find the most efficient treatment method, as well as recommends further actions to be taken,” said of BTA Personal Insurance Product Manager, Oskars Zvejnieks.
Consultations are covered by BTA Health insurance policy to all clients and the client does not have to pay to the medical institution. Consultations are available every day from 7.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. and they are provided by specialists from medical institutions that are BTA cooperation partners.
eMed provides the clients with an opportunity to get an appointment with the doctor on the day when the application is sent, moreover, the clients do not need to spend time on the way to the medical institution and pose threat to their health while waiting in the line by the doctor’s door with other ill people.
