New risk – Heavy rainfall
Considering the events of the previous years, we’ve realized that our BTA Property insurance requires improvements and additions. Therefore, we’ve added the risk “Heavy rainfall”, which will ensure your property’s insurance from damage caused by natural disasters.
Heavy rainfall risk means that you can submit your claim when the location (of the operating contract) is flooded resulting from heavy rainfall (short-term intensive rain) or prolonged rain:
- if the water went over surface waters, pools, dams or shores;
- if rainfall or sewage collection and discharge systems, drainage systems overflow;
- if overflow was caused by accumulation of rainwater, for instance, in a backyard.
Let’s look at several real-life examples when insurance from heavy rainfall might help.
- Resulting from intensive and prolonged rain wastewater systems might be unable to take in a large amount of rainfall, resulting in an accumulation of water in the streets that can damage building foundations and facades. Building walls might absorb water and thus damage the internal furnishing of the building – its walls and floors, and cause damage to movable property as well.
- Rainwater due to heavy rainfall might accumulate in your backyard and cause damage to building outdoor objects, for instance, cobblestone and terraces.
- If a house is located close to a river or a lake, there’s a risk that water levels might rapidly rise from heavy rainfall. If the water went over surface waters, pools, dams or shores, it might cause damage to both the building and the building outdoor objects and property.
BTA offers an opportunity to also purchase additional cover for rainfall entry into an apartment or a residential building through the building walls, closed windows or the roof. For example:
- Resulting from poorly installed windows water leaks into the building/apartment under windowsills and damages furnishing of walls and flooring;
- Water enters an apartment through the joints of a an apartment building.
