Immediately after the war in Ukraine began, VIG has started to set up a team to coordinate supporting activities with colleagues from our Ukrainian companies. The VIG Management has additionally set up a VIG Family Fund with EUR 5 million as a basis and has invited all VIG Group companies and employees to contribute to this fund. The goal of the fund is to support directly affected families of our Ukrainian companies. All VIG companies in Baltics – “BTA Baltic Insurance Company”, “Compensa Vienna Insurance Group” and “Compensa Life Vienna Insurance Group” – are with the people of Ukraine and the 1400 Ukrainian colleagues in these dark hours and will donate 250 000 EUR to the VIG Family Fund.
BTA Chairman of the Management Board Wolfgang Stockmeyer says: “We are all deeply affected that in the midst of our VIG Group, we have to witness that people of our Group are directly involved in a war in Europe. We are carefully following the situation in Ukraine and information in local and international media. We are standing together with all the people of Ukraine and deeply sympathize with those who have lost loved ones or who had to leave their homes because of the war. We are also ready to provide direct and practical help to colleagues whose family members are in Ukraine and who are currently in need of assistance.”
In the meantime, Deividas Raipa, Chairman and CEO of Compensa Vienna Insurance Group, says that his team is proud to be part of the Vienna Insurance Group and support a joint and unified initiative to help the people of Ukraine.
"We, Lithuanians, Latvians, Estonians, have historical experience and a memory that allows us to understand very well the pain that Ukrainians are now experiencing. Our whole team is convinced that to help Ukraine is our duty. We are well aware that there is a great need in Europe today for unity, focus, and support, especially for the people of Ukraine. Therefore, without much hesitation, we have decided to contribute to the fund set up by the Vienna Insurance Group," said Deividas Raipa, Chairman and CEO of Compensa Vienna Insurance Group.
"Russia's military aggression against Ukraine is shocking and incomprehensible.
