Children injuries up by 4% in June, BTA wishes a safe rest experience
This year, Latvia is pampered by warm and beautiful days, therefore BTA Baltic Insurance Company AAS (BTA) reminds to take care enjoying summer recreation in a safe manner, not to harm your health and property.
“Safety while on water is an essential and particularly topical in days like this. Particular caution should be exercised, when diving and swimming in water bodies you do not know – underwater boulders, sunken tree trunks and other objects, which may cause severe injuries. By all means, never let your eyes off of children, as they may miscalculate their swimming capabilities – never leave children unsupervised. It should be understood that even at bathing grounds with lifeguards on spot, they cannot act as baby-sitters at the same time,” reminds BTA Baltic Insurance Risks Underwriting Department Director Ivo Danče.
Families often choose to go on cycling trips together, and cycling helmets in such cases are a must. The general picture is that hands are ones that get injured by children most often, which are approximately 300 cases a month. In June of this year, a total of 1706 various injuries were sustained by children, which is slightly more than a year ago, when 1642 children sought assistance in hospital, according to data of the Children Clinic University Hospital. Although the age bracket when sustaining of injuries is most often, are toddlers, around a year and two years old, when child is active in exploring the surrounding world, traumatism in summer increases in other age groups as well.
Boys traditionally suffer injuries nearly twice as often then girls, they treat safety precautions more casually and are more reckless cyclists.
“To avoid unpleasant moments caused by pickpockets, it is advisable to reconsider – which smart gadgets you might need at an event you are going to visit, and which ones you might as well do without. One may also want to keep in mind BTA CASCO insurance terms and conditions, which include luggage insurance placed in the car, thus avoiding losses, in case your car during a summer recreation event is “visited” by enthusiasts of others’ property,” says I. Danče.
Also, you may want to check the technical condition of your car, to avoid unpleasant surprises on the way. “BTA Customer Support Service operates 24 hours a day all days, providing advice in a language that the customer feels more comfortable with. In case of an accident, you should consult your insurer immediately,” emphasizes I. Danče.
BTA wishes everyone a nice, meaningful and safe summer’s rest!
