BTA to compensate losses to its customers due to cancelled flights of Ryanair
BTA Baltic Insurance Company AAS (hereinafter – BTA) announces payment of compensations to its customers sustaining losses with respect to cancelled flights of Ryanair.
The official Ryanair announcement says that flight cancellation is necessary, as the airline experiences problems with flight delays occurring due to bad weather and air traffic controller strikes, as well as delays because of the air traffic control. Although, the airline has also admitted mismanagement in staff annual leave scheduling, therefore pilots and stewards have to use the accumulated leave days within next six weeks. According to the currently available information, four Riga Airport inbound and outbound flights have been cancelled.
Says BTA Baltic Insurance Risks Underwriting Department Director Ivo Danče: “In response to the Ryanair’s unexpected announcement of the necessity to cancel part of flights within next six weeks, BTA, taking care of its customers, will regard these cases as insured events with respect to all those its customers, who have previously obtained BTA travel insurance policies with the "Flight delay, cancellation" risk included, and will compensate to its customers the expenses for paid for and unused hotel at the trip destination point, when not yet embarked on the trip. As well as the expenses for air tickets, when the trip consisted of two or more flights. Indemnity will be granted within the established limit. In cases, when the flight gets cancelled while the customer is at the destination, we will indemnify for hotel and catering expenses.”
BTA requests all customers, having sustained losses due to Ryanair’s cancelled flights, to contact BTA as soon as possible to find the most appropriate solution within the possibly shortest time.
