The shadow of the Board Member Evija Matveja, senior year student of Riga State 1st Gymnasium Andrejs Kivlinieks answered bluntly to the question asked in the application, on why he wanted to shadow a board member: "I want to be a Board Member!"
This is already the second year when the ‘shadows’ will be able to find out how the leading insurance company in the Baltic States functions, what is the everyday and work duties of its employees. This year, 24 shadow vacancies were open to applications. Several 'shadows' could apply to each vacancy, and this year we received 18 applications. All 18 shadows will be able to follow the everyday doings of the members of the board, directors, human resource managers, managers and specialists of customer service centre.
"We are proud to participate in development of Latvian youth and identification of carrier opportunities. We wish that youth who are interested in finance market, insurance and career options in the sector of insurance would be inspired to acquire the necessary education and knowledge in order to successfully begin their journey in the labour market. BTA employees are knowledgeable, purposeful and responsible; therefore, we wish to show to our shadows how it is: to work in the sector of insurance, and what kind of employee you should be in order to climb the steps of career," explained Evija Matveja, the Member of the Board of BTA.
Andrejs Kivlinieks, senior year student of Riga State 1st Gymnasium, said of the opportunity to shadow the Member of the Board of BTA: "I chose to send my application exactly for the vacancy of the Member of the Board because one day I plan to be in the Board of a company. I am interested in management of the company and related work duties and responsibilities. I believe that success and long-term development of the company depends on competence, knowledge and ambitions of its managers. Currently it is important to gain additional knowledge and experience in order to achieve the goals I have set for myself. I think that opportunity provided by BTA to shadow the Member of the Board Evija Matveja will give me a clearer view on what I still need to learn and what skills I need to develop additionally."
