BTA Latvija health insurance valid in all Baltic States; helps companies attract employees
With the health insurance becoming an integral part in the incentives in attracting and motivating employees, AAS “BTA Baltic Insurance Company” (hereinafter – BTA) pays great attention to the availability and quality of services, and shortly plans to launch a mobile application, which will enable individuals to review the list of contractual institutions and the eligible services.
Concluding cooperation agreements with medical institutions, the BTA payment package contains all the services included in the particular insurance contract; thus, for an individual, whose company has paid the policy, it is at any time clear what services are covered by the insurance programme chosen by its employer at the extent stipulated in the contract. “In Latvia, where the BTA is a stable leader of the health insurance market, we offer the clearest overview of the paid services, and the employees whose insurance is paid by their employers immediately understand what services included in the insurance policy can be received and at what extent,” says Oskars Zvejnieks, head of BTA Insurance Products for Individuals, recognizing that a higher service level and better access also constitute the price of the health insurance premium.
BTA strives to provide insurance information in a language and format that is appropriate to our client. “No one wants to read endless sheets of information; instead, information in a short, specific, electronic format is preferred. An important aspect is the availability of services by means of electronic cards and mobile applications, which will ensure even higher service quality. Besides easier way of claiming health insurance, this will also allow for an overview of available services and a list of contractual institutions,” the plans for the future are explained by O. Zvejnieks.
“Already now all services are available electronically on the BTA customer portal, and I would like to stress that our health insurance policies are valid in all three Baltic States, and we are the only ones in Latvia offering such option. This means that, for example, when travelling on a business trip to a neighbouring country, employees will be paid a visit to the pool in the evening after the meeting if it is included in the policy cover. For some clients, we also cover costs at a European level,” informs O. Zvejnieks.
Every day several tens of Latvian clients use the opportunity to receive BTA health insurance services also in Estonia and Lithuania. In total, 90 thousand individuals were insured in the BTA health insurance programmes in the nine months of 2019, which is by 5% more than in the corresponding period in 2018 and by 43% more than in the nine months of 2017 when there were 58 thousand insured persons. During the first nine months of 2019, written premiums amounted to 19.6 million euro, which is by 6% more than in the previous year. This year, most of the remunerations were paid for medical consultations (20%), instrumental examinations (18%), patient contributions (13%), outpatient rehabilitation (9%), and other services.
