What is the policy validity territory and the validity period?

The foreigner health insurance policy protection is valid in the territory of Latvia and Member States of the Schengen Agreement where the visa issued to the foreigner is valid.

What is the policy validity period?

Depending on the planned period of stay, the foreigner health insurance policy can be valid from one to 365 days.

Mind that the validity period of the foreigner health insurance policy cannot be less than the period the person expects to stay in the Republic of Latvia or the territory of the Republic of Latvia and one of the Member States of the Schengen Agreement. When arranging the visa for a short-trip to Latvia, an additional 15 days must be added to the expected period so that the total number of insured days is 15 days more than the expected short-term trip to Latvia. This is a requirement of Latvian embassies to be entitled to get a visa.

When applying for the multiple-entry visa, a foreigner is required to submit the foreigner health insurance policy for the period of the first stay; however, for every next stay the foreigner health insurance policy must be also acquired.
