What kind of professional activities may be insured?

Professional indemnity insurance ensures that any certified specialist protects himself or herself from financial losses caused to other persons as a result of services provided in the course of his or her professional activities which the specialist of the relevant field is obliged to compensate under laws and regulations. Merchants may opt for professional indemnity insurance of certified specialists employed by the merchants against financial losses caused to their customers or other persons.

Each of the regulated professions is unique, and each has very specific duties during the performance of which, professional mistakes may be made, wrong decisions may be taken, there might be accidents or negligence, as a result of which losses may be caused to other persons.

We offer professional indemnity insurance to the following professional service providers which are obliged to ensure civil liability insurance:

Damage caused to the life or health of another person
Death, incapacity for work, temporary incapacity for work, physical injury or illness, for instance, a construction designer designs a structure, which fails to perform its functions envisaged for its operation in the required capacity after construction, thus causing losses to the health of other persons.
Damage caused to property of another person
Damage to or loss of property owned or legally used by another person, for instance, if a construction manager fails to notice that constructor's employees conduct work without following the design and work schedule, as a result of which the construction object partially collapses and cars located at the object are damaged.
Financial losses caused to another person
Decrease (expenses) in the property of another person not related to restoration of the damaged property or prevention of damages caused to the health or physical condition, for instance, by making a professional mistake, your customer is imposed an administrative penalty by a competent institution.
Rescue expenses
Expenses related to urgent measures to prevent or reduce the damages, for instance, if foundations of the construction object have started sliding which may cause total or partial collapse of the construction object, then it is necessary to conduct preventive measures in order to prevent or reduce further worsening of the situation.
Litigation expenses
Coordinated court and matter settlement expenses incurred in relation to consideration and adjustment of the claim submitted by another person against the customer, for instance, if we insist that you have not become liable, while another person persistently continues to request loss compensation and refer to the court, then we will indemnify such court and matter settlement expenses, provided they are agreed upon with us in advance.

What is the validity territory of the policy?

In case of purchasing professional indemnity insurance, the validity territory of the policy will be specified in your insurance policy.

The insurance validity territory may be specified according to your needs – it may be both the territory of the Republic of Latvia and a specific territory indicated in your insurance policy, such as the address of the specific site where services are provided.
