Regardless of the dynamic pace of our everyday life, we should keep in mind the safety issue, as well as the probable consequences of unpleasant situations. Since January of this year, BTA has received 3300 Personal accident insurance claims to compensate for expenses following a variety of daily accidents. The size of the average paid indemnity this year has been 150 euros. To compare, the price or the insurance premium for Personal accident insurance policy is slightly over 20 euros.
According to BTA data, most often they are injuries sustained in our daily life, like bruises and sprains, although sometimes one cannot avoid severer accidents, such as cuts and various fractures. During the warmest months of a year, the major part of injuries are sustained outdoors during leisure time, similar it is in winter months with people involved in sports activities, not unfrequently they are heading from skiing trails straight to surgeon’s with broken bones, sprained ankles and various bruises.
As BTA data summary indicates, the injury risk still is higher with children, who tends to forget about safety while playing. As the school time begins, schoolchildren most often get brain concussions, broken fingers or sprained ankles. Quite often accidents happen right at school and during sport classes, while playing with or bumping into other children, as well as performing various athletic exercises or exercises with balls. A large part of injuries in winter is sustained while enjoying snow and ice – skiing, skating or snowball fighting.
“We often receive insurance claims for a variety of injuries, occurring to children and adults alike. To begin with slipping on a plastic bag, and down to open wounds and broken bones. As we have observed such an increase in popularity the Personal accident insurance, we decided we should make the customer access to it as easy as possible, so that people could secure themselves against unpleasant accidents with ease and comfort. Following the international practise, in addition to the current risk covers, we have developed and added to choices the professional retraining risk, when Insurance indemnity is paid for mastering a new profession in an establishment of higher education, and provides a guarantee that, in case the person is unable to perform its job duties due to injury, the daily sustainment needs will be taken care also after the personal accident.
