BTA Children’s days gather 165 children of BTA employees from entire Latvia
In order to introduce the children of the employees of BTA Baltic Insurance Company AAS (BTA) with the daily work of parents, their work place, the atmosphere and the new BTA ART collection, as well as to make the last day of schoolchildren summer holidays more interesting and exciting, BTA held its annual BTA Children’s day on the 31st of August. The event gathered 165 children aged 2 to 17, who had arrived at the BTA head office from entire Latvia.
In July of this year, BTA started a new and probably slightly uncommon project for those in the insurance field, taking a step in the field of art – BTA ART collection, which also includes the works of artists Maija Kurševa and Merike Estne. In honour of the new BTA ART collection, all the activities for children this year at BTA Children's Day, held at both the head office premises and KIM? Art centre, were related to art, experimentation with colours and the transferring fantasy into art.
BTA Management Board Member Evija Matveja says that BTA Children’s days have already become a tradition of BTA. Evija is truly happy about the great way the idea was brought to life and the cheerful and creative atmosphere this year: “This day was rich in emotion and it was really delightful to see children open up when playing with colours and releasing their imagination. You can feel it in the art pieces they created during workshops. All the kids had a unique opportunity to create a common piece of art, which will also be included in the BTA ART collection. I feel sheer joy about the great responsiveness of my colleagues and their children. We wanted this entire day to be around and into colours, creativity and encouraging imagination, which we succeeded by joint effort.”
Care was taken for the event to be enjoyed by children of all ages, so that everyone could have fun, apart from gaining new knowledge. A the start of the day, children were split into age groups and they had opportunity to go on tour through BTA office premises, have a look at the new BTA project – BTA ART and get to know the exhibitions at KIM? – the Contemporary Art Centre (in Latvian: KIM? – Kas Ir Māksla? – What Is Art?). Children were let to express their idea of what art is, to take part in various workshops and complete a variety of tasks related to the art pieces from the BTA collection. Those above the age of five, went on a special excursion to the Contemporary Art Centre KIM?, to try to see the world through the eyes of creative personalities, artists, while the smallest ones were amazed at the performances of illusionist and animators. The largest kids tried their hand at painting on water. The activities of the day were accompanied by healthy snacks and good lunch, to sustain the vigour and creative mood throughout the day.
At the end of the day, each kid received a memory gift from BTA as to thank them for participating in this event. “We, as a company and a responsible employer, see the satisfaction of our employees as an important factor. Involving all employees in the company processes and us working as a team is what creates the sense of being united, which matches our identity and values. This is the second year that we hold BTA Children’s day, and the increasing number of participants is a proof that our employees feel appreciated and motivated, and interested in achievement of their individual, as well as common corporate goals. Thanks to my colleagues for their responsiveness!” says Evija Matveja.
